Station 1 BBQ is a family-run labor of love born from a passion for authentic Southern flavors and a lifetime of community service. Our founder, Russ, spent many years as a career firefighter in the Southern US, serving everywhere from the heat of city fires to the frontlines of wildland firefighting.
After years of supporting his fellow crews—including relief efforts during Hurricane Rita—Russ returned home to Vancouver Island to trade his fire gear for the pit sharing the soulful, smoky traditions of the South with the Victoria community. What started as a family project crafting signature barbecue spices has grown into a full-scale, family-operated smoked meat business. When you eat with us, you’re part of the Station 1 family.
